It’s Halloween soon, so why not tune in to a track with a darker tone for this week’s beat. Heartless is Perth four-piece Tether’s (Molly Case vocals, guitar; Codie Sundstrom synth, vocals; Amy Muir bass; Caitlin Norris drums) third track they’ve released this year and hopefully, there is more to come.

After hearing it on Triple J’s Home & Hosed last this week, I knew it was one I’d have to chase up again. It’s dramatic, brooding and moody; the perfect track to listen to with the lights down low. The airy and light vocals are soft and almost sweet, contrasting well against the dark synths and gritty guitar.

The understated drums build to the powerful explosion of sound towards the last thirty seconds of the track, which could have gone on for a bit longer to create an even bigger, emphatic wall of sound. Heartless leaves you addicted and wanting more.
