This Wednesday marked the release of local project Supathick’s debut single I’m There, laying down some serious disco groove. Ripe with a range of punchy guitar parts, syncopated drumbeats and featuring velvety vocals from Saskia Brittain (Dulcie), the track is an exciting look at a modern funk boogie.
The five-piece group includes musicians from recognisable bands in the local music scene such as Wooly Mammoth, Almond Soy, Grace Armstrong and Demon Days, bringing a variety of sounds to the table.
Showcasing juicy synths, thick bass and a scat breakdown—it’s a song that pulls you into its disco ball atmosphere and refuses to let go of your attention for its full 3 minute and 21 second duration. A tune that sounds like the lovechild of Earth, Wind & Fire and Hiatus Kaiyote.
Give I’m There a listen below and check out the swanky cover art while you’re there.
