It’s been a hot minute since anyone’s been able to hit up a good ol’ EDM rave, but this new track from Ukiyo might just have you dancing in your bedroom.
The single, Good Enough, is Perth artist Ukiyo’s futuristic track which explores a relationship going nowhere, through uplifting synths and bouncy beats.
Taking inspiration from late hip-hop great Mac Miller and producer Porter Robinson, Ukiyo’s ambient sounds fit right in with Melbourne singer Maribelle’s soulful vocals.
Speaking about the release, Tim Arnott, producer and multi-instrumentalist behind Ukiyo, reflects on the song’s positive tone.
“For me, Good Enough is all about being happy with what you have. I’m a person that struggles to keep my mind away from thinking about what ‘could’ve’ or ‘should’ve’ instead of focusing on reality. This track came about at a time that was very much a turning point for me with how I chose to view the world. I think it’s an important message for people to hear, especially in a time like now.”
At 23, Arnott has already seen some big wins, with his music surpassing 30 million streams and landing spots on Casey Neistat and Will Smith’s vlogs.
The release of Good Enough sets the scene for Ukiyo’s debut album, expected later this year.
