We’re seeing a prevalence of local WA musicians pumping out bangers left, right and centre – with no exception from indie rock four-piece Great Gable.
As they’ve just released their debut album Tracing Faces a month ago, we’ve decided to feature their cruisy track of the same name for this week’s beat.
Tracing Faces is the first of ten tracks on the hot-off-the-press LP, recorded at The Music Farm in Byron Bay. With production help from the one and only Matt Corby, alongside collaborator Alex Henriksson.
The song is dreamy, laid back and one that just drifts into your ears for some feel-good listening, but not without the light punch of buoyant instrumentals and surfy vocals from lead singer Alex Whiteman. Just like the other songs in the album, you can hear years of playing and writing together really culminate in some quality music that finds the balance between delicate riffs and striking melodies.
Great Gable will be among a star-studded lineup – including Stella Donnelly, Spacey Jane and San Cisco – at the Wave Rock Weekender next week, before touring WA in November and October. Get a taste of what’s to come with their Tracing Faces music video.
