Prove your humanity

Following on from April’s special edition of the iconic event, #AusmusicTshirtDay is back this Friday 20th of November to rally Australian communities around supporting our amazing musical talent.

The Australian music industry has been hit particularly hard during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many of our favourite artists and behind-the-scenes heroes are struggling with the unprecedented impacts restrictions and controls have placed on the community. Cancelled festivals, touring schedules scrapped, and venues closed. As we headed into lockdown, so too did the future of Australian music.

Triple J has partnered with Support Act and ARIA over November to raise funds and improve awareness of the financial, psychological, and professional ramifications for Australian musos during the crisis. Support Act is Australia’s primary charity extending support for music industry members.

#AusmusicTshirtDay offers a great opportunity for you to help your local music legends and their collaborators who are doing it tough.

Following all that spring cleaning, it’s time for you to throw away that ratty sweatshirt, pull out your favourite Australian band or musicians merch and wear it out on Friday with pride – or if you’re feeling like a bit of retail therapy, grab some new merch from a local artist.

In doing so, you are supporting the local music community and the entire industry as we come together to show the world the best of Australia’s talent.

While we can’t be out together enjoying a live music gig at full capacity, we can do our bit by flashing our favourite Aussie band tees.

The toughest part of the day for many, deciding on one tee (or having multiple outfit changes like me)!

Remember to tag all your amazing photos with #AusmusicTshirtDay.
