Prove your humanity

No stranger to Grok’s Beat of The Week feature, Joan and The Giants have emerged after a year away with two charming new tracks to satisfy the deep longing left in the hearts of their fans (myself included).

The release features two new singles that introduce listeners to the quintessential uplifting and ethereal alt-pop sound that supporters have come to admire from the Perth-based outfit. Both ‘Young In love’ and ‘Mother’ are dripping with emotional depth and nostalgia that captures a listener’s attention from the get-go.

‘Young in Love’ is a captivating track that explores those initial nerve-wracking feelings that consume you when falling in love. Featuring an upbeat and anthemic hook that draws you along with Grace’s soaring vocals, it’s an entrancing single that makes me picture driving along with my windows down, the sound turned all the way up with the warm summer wind blowing around me.

In a similar vein, ‘Mother’ captures audiences with a reflective track on the after-effects of an almost forgotten but ever lingering relationship, perfectly encapsulating the feeling of having loved and lost. Dripping in nostalgia and emotional turmoil, the single makes you feel like Joan and The Giants are singing to you and you alone. A feat that makes me excited for the live rendition.

These latest tracks expose a mature, refined side to Joan and The Giants that lifts these singles and paints them as ones to watch.

Both singles will feature on Joan and The Giants debut EP to be released later this year, coinciding with a national tour.
