Better take the pan off the stove because this Butter is sizzling.
Hocus Pocus is Perth six-piece Butter’s latest single, which was released earlier this month. It’s a silky-smooth number by the neo-soul, jazz, hip-hop group and is a perfect intro track into the band’s unique sound.
The track hits you with jarring rhythms and an eerie vibe straight from the get-go. Its percussion kick and brilliant keys work to create a consistent stomp that pushes the song along and keeps you hooked as you listen.
Frontman Lachy’s distinct vocals work to an advantage for the group and add to their irreplaceable sound. His deep but smooth voice booms as he sings and almost yells about “the various feelings of attraction, vulnerability and infatuation that can come with romance and relationships”, according to an interview with Pilerats.
It’s punchy in the best way and a tune that kicks up a storm on the dance floor live—punters can’t help but groove to this one. It’s smooth as butter, what more can I say?
