WAM’s Most Popular Live Act nominees for 2018, I Call Val are back with a colourful new single. Ain’t Nothing I Can Do is a synth-pop bubblegum track with a hint of something special.
The new track marks a new experimental journey for the band, described by them as ‘the sonic embodiment’ of them finding their new sound. Perhaps they’re stepping away from the rockier sound to a more fairy floss way of grooving.
Frontwoman Paige Savill has a rich voice that is both sweet yet husky as she brings her inner child to life again. The track embodies the warmth of letting yourself be moved by art, something we tend to forget to do as we grow up and let go of our child behaviours.
Moving away from the musical talent, the single cover is a beautifully colourful and fun illustration and I absolutely adore it. The pinks and fluorescent colours seem to set the scene for the new era of I Call Val, but not to worry, the high energy they’re known for is here to stay.
Catch the five-piece add a dash of bright-pop to your night at their single launch at Lucy’s Love Shack on October 26.
