This week, we take you to the serene soundscape of an indie rock piece from Lilia’s third single Mrs Jones.
Released in August last year, the song comes after debut 2018 track Bottom of the Ocean and single Outside Lane, sticking to the soulful Matt Corby-esque sentiment of Lilia’s tunes.
I initially heard Mrs Jones as a live rendition when front man Richard Lilje played a solo show a few months back at the Lucky Goat Factory, showcasing his heartfelt lyrics and powerful voice. Featuring harmonies from Grace Allen with intermingling electric guitar pieces and timid piano notes, the recorded version is just as raw, honest and gentle.
Before Lilje’s musical project comes to a close, Lilia is playing their last gig this evening at El Grotto, supported by Wild Oak and South Ceiling. Get down there if you’re in the mood for some rich vocals and wholesome tunes on your Friday night.
